Datawarehouse

A datawarehouse is a repository of an organization's data. Datawarehousing facilitates reporting and analysis based on the complete and aggregated collection of an organization's data. The means to retrieve and analyze data, to extract, transform and load data (ETL), and to manage the data dictionary are also considered essential components of a datawarehousing system. With SQL Server, Microsoft provides a solution that covers almost all of the areas of datawarehousing. The SQL Server database is a very robust and scalable, making it more than suitable to handle the large amounts of data usually involved in datawarehousing. SQL Server Integration Services is an excellent ETL tool, while SQL Server Analysis Services is an excellent OLAP solution. However, SQL Server doesn't provide a DataWarehouse Tool that non-technical users can use to access and analyze the data in the datawarehouse.
